Schaeffer Electric Co. Completes Design/Build Electrical Installation With Green Technology at St. Louis University High School (SLUH) St. Louis Firm Equips New Three-Story, 47,500 SF Danis Fieldhouse
ST. LOUIS Ð St. Louis-based Schaeffer Electric Co., Inc. has completed a design/build electrical project for the new 47,500-square-foot Danis Fieldhouse at St. Louis University High School (SLUH) in St. Louis, Mo. The project, which features energy-saving technology, started in summer 2008.
Schaeffer designed and installed the complete electrical system for the three-story complex. It features a gymnasium, additional court space, a wrestling practice room, locker rooms, concessions area, administrative offices and support areas. The firm installed multiple occupancy sensors and an automated system to control lighting, window shades and basketball backstops for greater energy efficiency. SchaefferÕs data and communications crew installed low voltage voice and data wiring throughout the facility.
ÒThis project has a special place in my heart,Ó noted Dan Schaeffer, president of Schaeffer Electric. ÒThree generations of my family received a stellar education from SLUH. I graduated in 1968, preceded by my father, Jerry, in 1944, and followed by my brother Mark in 1981, and my son, Chris, in 1999.Ó
The new fieldhouse was designed by Hastings & Chivetta Architects and built by BSI Constructors, Inc. St. Louis University High School, founded in 1818, provides a college preparatory education to 1,072 young men annually from 85 St. Louis area zip codes.
